Biography

I was born and raised in Taiwan in a family that embraces traditional Chinese culture, especially in art, architecture and music. Under such influence, I have always appreciated art and design even though my past education was mostly weighed on science and math.

Seven years ago, I came to the US to expand my experience in life and education. Living in this new environment and meeting the people with different backgrounds, I became curious with human development and relationships. While completing my bachelor degree in psychology, I decided to take a step further to apply my knowledge with my interest. I realized that I can use design to improve relationships between people and the environment around.

I am currently pursuing a masters degree of industrial design in the University of the Arts. Focusing on system design and organizational redesign, we solve complex problems with creative thinking. In the UArts recycling project, our team investigated the seemingly working waste collecting process that involves with a broken system. After countless meeting with school officials and waste management facilities, we came up with a proposal along with visual aids to establish a recycling program in UArts. The proposal is now under consideration and soon be implemented.

I am capable of looking at a problem in a large scope and dissecting it in detail. I also enjoy resolving challenges with creative as well as systematic thinking in a collaborative manner. I seek the opportunity to return to Taiwan with the skills and experience and to design for the betterment of Taiwan.
