BLA - Landscape Architecture

Biography

My passion for design stems from the need to improve the world through informed decision-making and designing.  Since design is everywhere, why not make the most informed design choices that you can.

As a granddaughter of an architect, I have been exposed to design since I was a kid.  I have always been interested in art, design, and math, and am a visual learner. These interests lead me to pursue a design degree that catered to these skills as well as catered to my love of the outdoors. I chose to go to Virginia Tech to earn my Bachelors degree in Landscape Architecture and pursue my passion for design.  Virginia Tech’s freshman year design studio integrated students in different majors and exposed me to different types of design. I had a real passion for Landscape Architecture, but also had an interest in Industrial Design.

After graduation I had noticed that there was an aspect of design that was missing from my skill set. I felt that gaining a Masters degree in Industrial Design would help me obtain a larger skill set and further my ability to express design ideas through image. This degree should help me cultivate the tangible skills I need to express my design ideas in a proficient way that will allow me to inform and better the world.
